Really, I wanted to live fully.

Then one day as I was walking through a bookstore in New York City, I came across a book titled Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness. The title seemed intriguing, although somewhat “woohoo,” but I picked it up anyway.

Full Catastrophe was my first introduction to the scientifically proven power of mindfulness and meditation to heal anxiety. Although it is over 600 pages, I devoured the book in a week.

Finally, I thought to myself, a natural way to heal my anxiety AND become more focused and creative. It wasn’t just a way to cope, but a new way of being. It was the very thing I was missing.

The component that finally sold me on the power of mindfulness was that it was backed by a shit ton of research. Patients all over the world were using mindfulness to heal mental illness, decrease the symptoms of chronic pain, and become more creative.

That day in the bookstore was the catalyst for my journey out of stress and anxiety. I incorporated mindfulness into every aspect of my life, and it has helped me in a myriad of ways:
